Clinical Supervision

As a Clinical Supervisor, my goal is to guide you through your journey to licensure. I take on an approach that is compassionate, educational, and supportive. I believe in understanding ourselves, we can show up for our clients in a healthier and holistic way that best suits their needs. We will learn different modalities, prepare you for the exam, learn BBS regulations, and how to be ethically and morally sound in your day-to-day practice.

I would like to give you a glimpse into my world and hopefully, you can see that my passion is in providing space for others to learn and grow. I have been a practicing Clinical Supervisor in an array of different settings. I began my journey running a psychiatric unit and have had the opportunity to work in several outpatient facilities, crisis house settings, and group practices. I enjoy providing individual and group supervision that supports and manages the development of skills and workable strategies using an eclectic approach so you can choose what best fits your style and how you show up for your client.

Some things to learn:

  • How to be present for yourself and your client
  • How to create an open and nonjudgmental space
  • How to manage what you feel are challenges in the room
  • Identify who you are, your biases, and your cultural lens, so you can accept your client as their genuine and authentic self
  • Identify what modalities most interest you
  • Learn different therapies (CBT, DBT, IFS, ACT, Attachment work, Self-Psychology, Positive Psychology, Polyvagal, EMDR)
  • Learn how to diagnose, assess, and create treatment plans that are in your client's language and cultural world
  • Learn how to appropriately document using simple note formats
  • Learn how to assess for safety on all levels including suicidality, non-suicidal self-injurious bx, self-harm, homicidal language, and behavior
  • Begin to understand that unsafe and non-nourishing behavior is not bad coping skills, they are survival techniques and are in fact a person's attempt to cope in their own way
  • Learn to assess for abuse in all forms and what the next steps are when it comes to CPS, APS, and DV
  • Learn to create wellness plans for safety and overall improvement in functioning
  • Educate yourself on BBS requirements as well as legal and ethical considerations
  • Identify where you are in your licensure journey and map out the road to the licensure date
  • Engage in free training that is provided through PESI to improve education and understanding
  • Have access to a number of worksheets, assessments, handouts, manuals, and pre-recorded training for different modalities and therapeutic interventions
  • Last, because I am afraid I am writing too much, build a relationship that you feel supports where you are

Wherever you are in your licensure journey, I am here to help you.

Clinical supervision is provided to AMFT, APCC, and ASW until the time allotted before requiring an LCSW.
