My Story

My name is Virginia Wilcsek. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I began my journey with mental health at a young age, without even knowing. What I thought was "normal" as a child, after years of interpersonal work and a tenuous journey of healing, in fact, was everything but what I thought. It took me 30 years to realize my manic tendencies, impulsive nature, and high-risk self-soothing behavior were trauma-based survival reactivities. I spent years with several diagnoses including Bipolar Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, and consideration for Borderline Personality Disorder. It wasn't until I found a mental health professional who actually listened to my story, did I understand it was what happened to me rather than what was wrong with me. It was explained to me that my attempts to just survive were C-PTSD (Chronic Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder). I have been on many medications prescribed and self-provided. Only when I felt heard and seen, did my road to healing begin. My journey can never compare to yours and I would never want it to, when I say I am here with you and can empathize, I truly believe I do.
My passion for healing has led me through many experiences with mental health. I have worked in inpatient, outpatient, and group practice settings. I have worked hard to overcome the obstacles in my life and am proud of where I stand, even if the ground is shaky from time to time. I pride myself as a guide not only for you but for others starting their journey as therapists.

My goal is to help you start your journey, no matter what that looks like for you, I am here.

My Mission

My mission is to assist you on your journey through a holistic and individualized approach. I strive to provide a space where you feel heard, seen and understood. I am eclectic in my approach using a variety of modalities and adjunct supports. I see you, which means I see you through a cultural and wellness lens. You are unique and deserve to have your story heard using a trauma-informed and non-judgmental space. I want you to understand yourself and what has happened to you. This is vital to begin challenging any thoughts that you are defective, broken, unlovable, and a burden. I strive to provide psychoeducation in all forms and allow you the opportunity to get to know your body and mind connection and all the possibilities that come with that.

I am here for you.

Let's gain understanding and compassion about the body and mind connection. We can learn and develop a holistic approach to understanding you including nutrition, mindfulness, energy, spirituality, culture, environment, and nourishment of any kind including movement and psychedelic care.

After years of my own trial and error, with many errors, I understand that each day can be different. Finding what works best for you at the moment you are in, is what is most important. We will find a routine that nourishes what you need that day. We will listen to your body and mind and know that patience, compassion, and self-love mixed with anger, sadness, and acceptance are some of the key ingredients. This is not to say this is the answer. Each person is unique. And it will take work. You are already braver than you think and stronger than you know. I can't wait to help you find, understand, and love yourself.
